Hird prolongs Spireites stay

Hird was into the final 12 months of his existing deal but he has put pen to paper on terms to keep him at the Proact Stadium until the summer of 2017.
The 27-year old defender, who has made over 100 appearances for the club since joining from Doncaster in 2012, follows the likes of Tommy Lee, Ian Evatt, Drew Talbot and Charlie Raglan in committing his future to Chesterfield.
Spireites boss Dean Saunders said: "I offered him a deal when I was at Doncaster and he opted to join Chesterfield so I'm pleased to have been successful this time.
"Sam is a good player with a great attitude and it is great news for the club that he has decided to stay."
Saunders is also hopeful of agreeing terms with Jay O'Shea, Daniel Jones and Dan Garnder in the near future.
